My Teams and Accounts
My Teams
My Teams are the teams you film for, for example a high school team and a club team. Each one keeps its own:
- Scoreboard team: its name, colors and logo on the scoreboard (always listed first, e.g. “Westview vs. Eastside”).
- Roster: its players (number, first name and an optional Position: Left Side, Right Side, Setter, Middle or Libero), for lineups, substitutions and highlight tags. Players listed as Libero come first when you pick a set’s liberos (see Game Day ▸ Lineup and substitutions).
- Google accounts: which Drive and YouTube accounts it uploads and streams with.
- Drive folder and YouTube playlist: where its games go. See The team’s Drive folder below.
- Stream keys: which Facebook and Custom RTMP keys it goes live with.
- Sponsors: shown on its game recordings and streams.
- Tournament: the tournament its games are currently filed under.
Switching teams
The Filming for card at the top of SideoutCam’s home screen shows the team you’re filming for. Tap it to switch teams, or choose Edit My Teams…. You can also switch in Start Game (on either phone). Switching brings that team’s sponsors, stream keys, YouTube account and tournament with it.
Adding, editing and deleting
- Add: Filming for ▸ Edit My Teams… ▸ +. Give it a name and a scoreboard team.
- Edit: tap a team to change any of its settings.
- Delete: swipe left on a team, or tap the trash icon in its screen. Its games stay on the phone and upload with your first team’s settings. Your first team, and your only team, can’t be deleted.
The team’s Drive folder
Sideout uploads each team’s games into a folder it makes for that team in your Google Drive, named like SideoutCam · Westview Jr. Boys. In My Teams ▸ the team, tap Create Drive Folder (or just upload a game: the folder is made then).
Once it’s made, you can rename it, move it inside any other folder (including a folder shared with you, or a shared drive), or share it with your team in the Google Drive app or website. Sideout keeps uploading to it wherever it is. Open in Google Drive jumps to it.
Sideout can only reach folders and files it made itself, not the rest of your Drive. That’s why it makes its own folder instead of letting you pick one. If you’d like everything inside a folder you already use, move the SideoutCam folder into it.
If your team was set up before this, its old folder shows a note: create the team’s new folder, then move it (and, if you like, earlier game folders) inside your old folder in Drive.
Every game remembers the team it was filmed for, so its uploads always go to that team’s folder and playlist, even if you switch teams later. To move a game to another team, open it in Games and change Filmed for.
Accounts
Home ▸ Accounts holds everything Sideout signs in or connects with. Your teams pick from it.
Google Drive and YouTube
Google treats Drive and YouTube as separate sign-ins, so each has its own row.
- Sign In to Google Drive / Sign In to YouTube: sign in with Google. For YouTube, use the account that manages the channel. If the channel is a Brand Account, pick it when Google asks.
- Add Another … Account: for a team that uses a different Google account or channel (e.g. the club’s YouTube channel). Then pick it in My Teams ▸ the team ▸ Google Accounts.
- Each account shows which teams use it. Remove signs out of an added account; teams that used it go back to your first account.
Changing a team’s account clears its folder or playlist (they belong to the old account): a new folder is made in the new account, and you choose a new playlist.
Stream keys
Facebook and most other services go live with a stream key. Accounts ▸ Stream Keys is one list of named keys that any team can use:
- Tap Add Stream Key.
- Choose the kind (Facebook, Custom RTMP or YouTube backup), give it a name (e.g. “Westview Facebook Page”), and paste the key. For Custom RTMP, also enter the server address.
- In My Teams ▸ the team ▸ Live Streaming, pick which key it uses. Teams can share a key.
Tap a key to rename it, change its server, or paste a replacement. See Live Streaming for where to find your keys.
Privacy
Sign-ins and stream keys are stored in the iPhone’s Keychain. They’re encrypted, never leave the phone, aren’t backed up to iCloud, and don’t transfer to a new phone. On a new phone, just sign in again.
