Sideout Help
Sideout is two iPhone apps that work together to film volleyball games:
- SideoutCam runs on the phone on the tripod. It records the game with a live scoreboard in the video, cuts highlight clips, streams live, and uploads your games to Google Drive and YouTube.
- SideoutTally runs on the phone in your hand. It keeps score, starts and stops the recording, marks highlights and shows you what the camera sees, from anywhere in the gym.
You can use SideoutCam on its own, but the two together are the way it’s meant to be used: set the camera up once, then run everything from your seat.

A typical game
- Mount the camera phone, open SideoutCam, and open SideoutTally on your phone. They connect on their own once you’ve paired them.
- On either phone, tap Start Game, pick the opponent, and tap Start Game again. The camera screen opens.
- Tap Start Recording when the set begins. Tap a team’s score for every point.
- Tap ★ Highlight right after a great play.
- When the set ends, tap Stop, then End Set. Record the next set the same way.
- After the game, open Games on the camera phone and tap Upload.
