Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
This policy covers the SideoutCam and SideoutTally apps for iPhone and iPad (together, "SideoutCam"), made by SideoutCam Support. SideoutCam is designed to keep your information on your own devices and in your own accounts. SideoutCam has no servers. It doesn't collect, sell or share your information, and it doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking. The developer never receives your videos, team information or account data.
Information stored on your device
- Videos and highlights recorded with the camera and microphone, and highlight reels made from them.
- Teams and games: team names, colors and logos you choose from Photos; scores, sets and recording settings.
- Players: the roster you enter (first names or nicknames, jersey numbers and optional positions), lineups and substitutions, player stats you record, and which players are tagged in highlights. Scrimmage sides are kept the same way.
- Settings and stream keys: your chosen Drive folders, playlists and streaming destinations. Stream keys for Facebook or other streaming services are kept in your device's secure Keychain.
- Copies in Photos, if you turn on "Also save to Photos", and copies on an external drive, if you choose to move games there.
This information stays on your device (and any drive you choose) unless you share, upload or stream it yourself. Deleting a game in SideoutCam, or deleting the app, removes it from the device.
Device permissions
- Camera and microphone: to record and stream games, only while the camera screen is open.
- Photos: to choose team logos and sponsor images, and to save videos to your library if you turn that on.
- Local Network and Bluetooth: to connect SideoutCam and SideoutTally directly to each other. This connection is encrypted, needs a 4-digit pairing code, and doesn't go through the internet.
Google account data (optional)
If you choose to sign in with Google, SideoutCam asks for the following access. You can sign in with more than one Google account, for example one per team. SideoutCam uses this access only for the features described here, and only when you use them.
Google Drive (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file)
- This permission lets SideoutCam see and change only the files and folders it creates. It can't see or open anything else in your Drive.
- Creates a folder for each of your teams (e.g. "SideoutCam · Westview Jr. Boys"), which you can rename, move or share in Drive; then a folder for each game inside it, and uploads that game's videos and highlights when you tap Upload. Moves a game's folder into a tournament folder if you change its tournament.
- Creates and updates a "Game Summary" Google Doc in the game's folder: each set's score, the players who played (by first name and number), stats, and links to the videos.
- Shows your email address in the app, so you know which account is signed in.
YouTube (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube)
- Reads your channel name and your playlists, so you can choose one.
- Uploads a game's videos to your channel as Unlisted, with descriptions that can include team names, scores and the first names of players involved, and adds them to the playlist you chose, when you tap Upload.
- When you tap Go Live, creates an Unlisted live broadcast on your channel and streams the game to it, then ends the broadcast when you end the stream.
- While you're live, reads the stream's health and the number of viewers, to show them in the app.
How this data is handled
- Your Google sign-ins are stored in your device's secure Keychain (not backed up, not synced to other devices). Folder and playlist choices are stored on the device.
- Your Google data is used only to provide these upload and streaming features. It is never sent to the developer or to anyone else, never sold, and never used for advertising.
- SideoutCam's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
YouTube API Services
- SideoutCam uses YouTube API Services. By using SideoutCam's YouTube features, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
- Google's handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Live streaming to other services (optional)
If you add a stream key for a Facebook Page or another streaming service and tap Go Live, SideoutCam sends the video directly from your device to that service. That service's own terms and privacy policy apply to the stream. SideoutCam doesn't sign in to those services or read anything from them.
Removing access and deleting data
- Sign out in SideoutCam (Home ▸ More ▸ Accounts). This removes the sign-in from your device.
- To revoke SideoutCam's access to your Google account entirely, use your Google Account's third-party connections page.
- Videos and documents already uploaded are in your Google Drive and YouTube account, where you can manage or delete them.
- Deleting SideoutCam from your device deletes everything it stored on the device.
Children
SideoutCam is meant for parents, coaches and teams filming games, which may include minors. It doesn't knowingly collect information from children, and player information you enter stays on your device and in your own accounts. You're responsible for following your school's or league's rules, and for having permission to record, stream and share videos and names of players.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
