Highlights
By the time you know a play was great, it’s already over. That’s why a highlight clips the seconds before you tap.
Marking a highlight
Tap ★ Highlight (SideoutTally) or Highlight (camera screen) right after the play, while recording. A tag sheet opens on that phone:
- Clip length: 10, 15, 20, 30 or 60 seconds before the tap (plus 2 seconds after). Your last choice is remembered.
- Team: which team made the play.
- Player: a player from that team’s roster, or the whole team (e.g. “Westview (team)”). If you’ve set a lineup, the players on court (and liberos) appear as cards: tap the one who made the play. Anyone else, or the whole team, is in the dropdown underneath. Your players are added in My Teams, opponents’ in Teams.
- Play: Kill, Ace, Block, Dig, Pass, Set, Tip, Save or Brilliance.
- Note (optional): a few words.
Tap Save, or Skip to keep the clip untagged. The recording keeps going the whole time.
Where highlights go
When you tap Stop, each highlight is cut from the set’s video and saved under Games, named from its tag, e.g. 20261004-Westview-Eastside-Set-2-Parker-Kill.mov. Untagged clips are named …-Highlight-01, …-Highlight-02, and so on.
Highlights upload with the game: to a Highlights folder on Google Drive, and after the sets in your YouTube playlist.
Warm-ups don’t have highlights. Practice recordings do.
Tagging your players also lets you make a player reel: one player’s highlights from a game, a tournament or a season, as one video to keep or share. See After the Game ▸ Player reels.
